DP, Porsche Design deal

Dubai Properties has signed an agreement with German design house Porsche Design Studios to jointly develop a series of Porsche-branded towers in 17 countries over the next 15 years. The deal was wrapped up at Expo Real, a commercial property event held this week in Munich. Dubai Properties says it targeted German institutions and private European investors at the event. ....

ATLANTA--Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States and Canada, today announced that sales for the month of September in the U.S. were up 3 percent over the same month in 2005. Year-to-date, September's results helped the Porsche brand continue to outpace last year's record-setting figure. For September 2006, Porsche reported new-car sales in the U.S. of 2,211, 3 percent ahead of 2005's figure for September of 2,144. So far in 2006, Porsche is continuing its pace for a record calendar year recording a nine month total of 26,411, which is 11 percent ahead of 2005's year-to-date total of 23,819. Porsche 911 model lineup has helped drive Porsche's sales in the U.S. all year. In September, sales of the 911 were up 11 percent from the same time last year with totals of 730 versus 659 in September of 2005....

Damien Faulkner moved a step closer to retaining his title with victory in a thrilling 15th round of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill ? bringing the winning run of Danny Watts to an end. While Tim Harvey and Michael Caine battled up the field to third and fourth after starting on slicks on a damp track, Faulkner had to fend off series newcomer James Pickford for victory, with a fine drive from Sam Edwards netting pro-am victory. With the track damp but no rain falling, Harvey dived into the pits from the green flag lap to switch to slicks, sacrificing his pole position in the process. Harvey's team mate Caine, who was due to start from the back of the grid anyway, made the same tyre choice, and both cars joined the race from the pit lane. Up front, Faulkner stormed into the lead from former BTCC racer Pickford, with Watts chasing in third....

August Auto Sales: Porsche

Porsche Cars North America Inc., the importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the U.S. and Canada, said Friday that sales fell 14.1 percent in August to 2,397 units from 2,735 last year. Through the first eight months of 2006, however, the automaker said Porsche brand sales remain on a record pace for the year. Year-to-date, Porsche has sold 24,200 new cars in the U.S. in 2006, an increase of 12 percent over last year's total of 21,665. The Boxster/Cayman series, which now includes the recently introduced base Cayman, posted combined sales of 780 for August, a 24 percent increase over last year. Year to date, sales of Porsche's 911 sportscar model are up 27 percent and sales of the Boxster/Cayman series are up 40 percent. In addition, dealers sold 549 Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicles in August....

The Pasha Group has been awarded a multi-year contract to handle Porsches imports through its new facility at the Port of Baltimore. Pasha will process Porsche's full line of 2006 and 2007 models. (8/9/2006) Pasha Automotive Services designed its 100,00 sq. ft processing facility at Baltimores Dundalk Marine Terminal to meet the quality standards of manufacturers of luxury and high performance vehicles. The processing centre is equipped with the latest in waterborne paint technology, finish and accessorisation shops and is staffed with factory-trained technicians for mechanical repairs and quality programs. According to Barry Long, manager of vehicle logistics for Porsche Cars North America, the company expected at least 16,000 vehicles to be processed through Pashas East Coast facility during the period August 2006 July 2007....

All-wheel drive only for Porsche 911 Targa

London, England - All-wheel drive only! That's the way the latest Porsche 911 Targa and Targa S, on display at the British auto show and due in South Africa in November 2006, will be delivered. They'll also only come with a glass roof trimmed with polished and anodised aluminium. The Targa 4 has a 3.6-litre, six-cylinder, boxer engine that delivers a claimed 239kW to take the car from 0-100km in 5.3sec and on to 280km/h. The S has a 3.8-litre, 261kW engine good for 0-100km/h in 4.9sec and 285km/h. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard but a five-speed, semi-auto with paddle shifts is an extra-cost option ....
