Pontiac St., to accommodate the addition earlier this year of about 30 corporate staff, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance said in a statement Thursday. Approximately 90 people are now employed at the company's headquarters. The city, which is facing a $60 million deficit, recently reduced its annual library funding from $300,000 to $150,000. That meant the Pontiac Public Library had to reduce its staff from 12 to five at the beginning of this month. The library also receives about $140,000 each year from the state. "Residents hopefully will not see any major changes because of this," said library Director Billy Williams. "With the reduced staff, things may be a little bit slower because we will have to wear more than one hat to pitch in and do a bit more. … It's kind of slow, so hopefully we will get a better handle on things by the fall." The entire facility was on the verge of closing under Mayor Clarence Phillips' proposal to cut all its funding from the city budget.... | |
