Vehicles recalled for floor mats, air bags, brake lights
Posted Monday, March 12, 2007 2:46:31 PM by Blog57 Team
We're a nation that loves our vehicles, but some recently have been recalled for safety reasons. They include a Mazda with a thick floor mat that can trap the accelerator, a GMC and Saturn with front air bags that may not open, and more than a million Volkswagens with potentially bad brake lights. If you'd like to see if your car has ever been involved in a recall, go to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Web site at www.safercar.gov. Using the search function, you can track down your own vehicle. Or, if you're in the market for a car and want to know if a particular make and model has had problems, you can look that up, too. The Web site has tons of information about car safety, especially helpful if you're looking for a model with particular safety features, such as side air bags or top crash ratings....

Mazda Breaks $22K with Its Ultimate Hot Hatch
Posted Saturday, September 02, 2006 8:46:09 AM by Blog57 Team
The Mazda3 shocked compact buyers when it first came to market. Not only did it perform better than most competitors it was up against, but even in base trim it offered an interior quality that rivaled some premium brands. The entry-level 3 continues forward into 2007 more or less unchanged, but for those looking for a little more action on the road and track, a range-topping MAZDASPEED3 is being added for the coming year. Not to be outdone by its hot hatch competitors, the new MAZDASPEED3 gets sold off the rack with what Mazda calls "a double dose of Zoom-Zoom"; a 263-horsepower turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder engine with a formidable 280 lb-ft of gut-wrenching torque. It maximizes power at 5,500 rpm and torque at 3,000, which should make for a very tractable driving experience no matter the situation....

DARTFORD, Englamd - August 7, 2006: Car sales are mushrooming like magic for Dartford-based Mazda UK as it celebrated its fifth anniversary at the weekend. So far this year, sales are up 10 per cent and heading for a record 50,000 units for 2006. Sales in the overall UK car market are down by four per cent so Mazda is bucking the trend. Mazda celebrated its fifth birthday on 5 August with a barbecue party for all its staff and families. It is also planning a weekend with partners for its dealer network in March 2007. When Mazda UK started importing Mazda cars in August 2001, its predecessor MCL had sold less than 7,000 units that year. Improvements were seen immediately and, by the end of the year, sales had hit 15,800. Rob Lindley, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mazda Motor Corporation, says that reaching 50,000 sales will be an emotional milestone for staff and dealers as well as a landmark in sales....

Mazda enters crossover SUV fray with 2007 CX-7
Posted Monday, July 17, 2006 2:45:55 AM by Blog57 Team
Mazdas first crossover sport utility vehicle, the 2007 CX-7, looks more like a stylish, tall wagon than an SUV. It handles and rides more like a wagon, too. Most surprising, though, is the engine under the hood of this new, five-door, five-passenger vehicle. It's a turbocharged four cylinder that delivers as much horsepower -- 244 -- and torque -- 258 foot-pounds starting at 2,500 rpm and going to 5,000 rpm -- as some V-6s. Mazdas CX-7 and Acuras new-for-2007 RDX are the only crossovers to come solely with turbocharged four-cylinder power plants. Officials say they want to provide both spirited power and decent fuel economy. The Mazda CX-7, which debuted in recent weeks as an early 2007 model, is more mainstream-priced vis--vis the luxury Acura vehicle. Starting manufacturer's suggested retail price, including destination charge, is $24,310 for a base, 2007 CX-7 Sport with front-wheel drive and six-speed automatic transmission....
