| Goodyear introduces new luxury tire | | Posted Wednesday, February 07, 2007 2:46:03 PM by Blog57 Team | | Orlando, FL -- Goodyear introduced a new high-end Eagle all-season tire at the annual tire dealers conference in Orlando earlier this week, reported the Akron Beacon Journal. The new ultra-high performance, carbon-fiber reinforced Eagle F1 all-season tire is not aimed at your run-of-the mill Chevrolets, Fords or Hondas. Instead, the tire is for people who own BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Maserati and other luxury, high-performance vehicles -- people who can afford to spend well over $100 per tire. It's a deep-pockets market that bought 10 million such tires last year, twice as many tires as just five years ago, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. executives told their audience at the Gaylord Palms hotel and convention center's cavernous ballroom. The tire should go on sale in July. Send This Article .... | |

| | | Dino Duet: Ferrari Considers Revival of 35-Year-Old Model | | Posted Wednesday, October 25, 2006 10:46:20 PM by Blog57 Team | | MARANELLO, Italy — A third front-engined model for Ferrari could be on its way, sharing underpinnings with the new Maserati Coupe and reviving the Dino name. Officials from Ferrari's Maranello, Italy headquarters have strenuously denied it — a typical response to probing questions on future product. However, there are growing signs within parent company Fiat that the Italian sports-car maker is preparing a new entry-level car that could possibly revive the revered Dino nameplate that was used on a series of popular Ferrari models sold between 1968 and 1976. The name honors company founder Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, who died in 1956 at age 24 from complications of muscular dystrophy. The new car, which is planned to compete against more powerful versions of the Porsche 911 and the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage, forms the centerpiece of a plan mapped out by Ferrari President Luca de Montezemolo to further extend the appeal of the Ferrari brand.... | |

| | | New models glitter at Paris auto show | | Posted Monday, October 02, 2006 10:46:14 PM by Blog57 Team | | Every two years, the eyes of the automotive world turn to the Paris Motor Show. This year is no different, with companies from Ford to Fiat, Maserati to Mitsubishi set to unveil brand new cars and concept designs to an eager public. From Sept. 30 to Oct. 15, an estimated 1.5 million visitors will flock to the French capital to see what companies have new to offer. Fuel-efficient hybrids and other alternative-fuel cars look set to be this show's main attractions. These cars will have particular resonance in Europe, where filling up a tank costs almost three times as much as in the States. So, while the U.S. has only recently rediscovered the virtues of smaller, more fuel-efficient cars, the Europeans - and automakers that manufacture for these markets-have an even greater need for them.... | |

| | | Che bella! 21st Annual Concorso Italiano | | Posted Saturday, September 02, 2006 4:46:50 AM by Blog57 Team | | Still plenty of memories to share with all of you from last week's automotive orgy in Monterey and Pebble Beach. Today's coverage is from the Concorso Italiano. Originally held at Quail Lodge Resort and Golf Club as a Maserati Club International meet in 1981, the Concorso Italiano has grown to become one of the largest annual gatherings of all things Italian. "A celebration of Italian style," it covers Italian music, cuisine, fashion and tourism, as well as those exquisite cars we all love for their passion. The show gave up its former digs to the Quail show and now takes place at Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course in Monterey Bay, allowing a much bigger field of cars and more elbow room for the huge crowds this show always attracts. Follow the jump for more details and a mega gallery of wallpapers. Not as strictly judged as Pebble or as exclusive as Quail, Concorso is the place to take a break and soak up the Italian atmosphere.... | |

| | | Van de Poele leads Maserati to last gasp win | | Posted Thursday, August 10, 2006 8:46:12 AM by Blog57 Team | | Maserati sensationally denied Aston Martin their first 24 Hour victory in the Proximus 24 Hours of Spa after a tremendous final stint by Eric Van de Poele helped them vault past their rivals in the final hour of racing. The Phoenix Aston Martin squad of Andrea Piccini, Jean-Denis Deletraz, Stephane Lemeret and Marcel Fassler had led from the off and with just a few hours to go looked to be on course for Aston Martin's first round the clock triumph when they pulled out a lead of over a lap on their Maserati counterparts, made up of Van de Poele, Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini. However, it was home favourite Van de Poele who proved the difference between first and second for Maserati, stepping into the MC12 for the final stint over the last couple of hours and reducing a deficit of almost two minutes with stunning lap times that were over two seconds faster than anyone else on the circuit.... | |

| | | Listening Post | | Posted Tuesday, August 08, 2006 10:45:59 PM by Blog57 Team | | Jurassic 5, "Feedback" (Interscope). East-coast quintet Jurassic 5 is the anti-gangsta rap outfit, its rich blend of old-school hip-hop and positive lyrics an inspiration to all those who've felt alienated by the form's obsession with materialism and braggadocio. "Feedback" is the group's third effort, and its most musical. Spin first single "Work It Out," a collaboration with the Dave Matthews Band, and realize that hip-hop has rarely gotten this close to soul-drenched pop without sounding contrived. It's a beautiful song with a killer groove. Unwilling to strip their music down to its most primal and obvious level, the Jurassic men insist that rap needn't be a form of anti-music; beats and actual songs are not mutually exclusive in their world, and as a result, they've moved the music forward.... | |

| | | Following Separation from Ferrari, Maserati Plans New Alfa-Romeo ... | | Posted Tuesday, July 18, 2006 8:45:53 AM by Blog57 Team | | From a product-planning point of view, the dissolution of Ferrari and Maserati's partnership in the aftermath of the Fiat/GM debacle was the best thing that could have happened to both marques, as it was becoming obvious that Maserati was beginning to step on too many prancing hooves. Not only are the Enzo and the MC12 too close for comfort, but the proposed V-8-engined Maserati Coupe/Spider replacement also would have threatened Ferrari in terms of price and performance. But that car, seen below in an artist's interpretation, is now history, banished to the corporate graveyard. .... | |
