What things have gone wrong with the car? Tune Up and Cam Sensor at 100,000 O2 Sensor 145,000 Fuel Pump 150,000 Other than that normal wear and tear items, serpetine belt, tires and oil changes and transmissions services. General comments? My Taurus has been very good to me. I bought it used it was a prior rental and had about 20,000 miles on. I have changed the oil regularly between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. I serviced the transmissions at 50,000 miles and 100,000 miles and it probably needs it again. At 100,000 miles I tuned it up. At that time the cam sensor needed replaced. I am still driving it today and it runs like a top and if I had to I would drive it across the country. The fuel pump went out recently and I went to the dealer and bought a replacement approximately $400.00 but I heard that the dealer fuel pump is much better than after market ones and thus, I spent the money on it....

In less than a week, the last Ford Taurus will roll off the line at a Ford assembly plant near Atlanta - the end of the road for a car that was once the best selling in the country and that for a time helped revitalize the struggling automaker. The mid-sized sedan quickly became a sensation after it was introduced in 1985 as Americans embraced its design, safety features and fuel-efficiency. ....

I am 17 and a 1995 Taurus gl is my first car. The tranny has been rebuilt twice before I purchaced it a few months ago. Since, I have had the tranny rebuilt with new lines and the whole deal. Soon it will need it again. It almost burns rubber on a slow normal and it sometimes slips or maxes out at between 30 and 50mph. The spedometer bounces back and forth like no other over 40mph. I have had 2 speeding tickets in my first 6 months of driving due to this. Also, the dashboard shakes like no other over 60mph. Don't get me started on overheating. I have had just about every problem there is with my first self purchased car. I cannot aford repair after repair just to self destruct! I have friends upon friends who have similar tranny problems with any year taurus/sable. My begining driving experience has been horrible....

The driver of the stolen car in which a 14-year-old girl was fatally shot testified yesterday, under a guarantee of immunity, that his earlier statements about having seen who fired the shots were false. LeVaughn Brown, who was 14 when the incident occurred on Memorial Day 2004, had pleaded the Fifth Amendment at least 25 times Monday, refusing to repeat his claim that he saw defendant Brandon Robinson of Penn Hills shoot at the car as he and three teenage passengers drove through Lincoln-Lemington. Karis Adams, who was in the backseat of the green 1995 Buick Regal, died of a single gunshot to the left temple. Mr. Robinson is on trial for homicide in the girl's death. Another suspect in the shooting, Eugene Cooper, whom Mr. Brown also had previously identified, has been granted a separate trial....

Ford cruise control recall widens

WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co., expanding one of the largest safety recalls in automotive history, said Thursday it would recall an additional 1.2 million vehicles nationwide that are prone to engine fires. The Dearborn automaker has recalled 6.7 million vehicles worldwide since January 2005 that are equipped with a Texas Instruments speed control deactivation switch that has been linked to dozens of engine fires and has sparked numerous lawsuits. The recall is an expensive problem for Ford that comes at an especially rocky period for the company. Ford announced Wednesday that its second-quarter loss was twice as large as it initially reported. And in July, the company was outsold in the United States by Toyota Motor Corp. for the first time. Vehicles included in the expanded recall are 1994 to 2002 models of the Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty pickups; 2000 to 2002 models of the Excursion; 1994 to 1996 Econoline vans; 1996 to 2002 E-450 vans; and 1998 Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers....

This is why he shares a 2,200-square foot garage in Mooresville with his 96 car, a red Ford Taurus he races in the ARCA series, and the silver bones of another car that looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Terminator" after his flesh melts and he is exposed as a robot. Next to the 96 car is a big radio and CD player. The music has a theme; it moves. When you're a one-man crew and you have an engine to install you can't let the enormity of the task, or a ballad, slow you down. On the 96 car is a slogan: vote for Brandon Knupp racinforalivin.com. Racinforalivin is a Web site developed by former World of Outlaws driver Jerry VenDenHul. VenDenHul expects to parlay the site into a racing reality TV show. The concept is part fast cars, part American Idol. VenDenHul, who lives in Arkansas City, Kansas, says the winner will receive a 2007 seven-race Busch Series gig that likely will begin in May....
