| Inside CEO Mulally's radical overhaul of Ford | | Posted Sunday, December 24, 2006 2:46:04 PM by Blog57 Team | | DEARBORN, Mich. -- At a board meeting at Ford Motor Co.'s headquarters last week, new chief executive Alan Mulally surprised directors by asking them to follow him from the boardroom, down a flight of stairs to his secret "war room." Unlocking the door, Mr. Mulally gave them a few minutes to review papers mounted on all four walls. "This is 'The Plan,'" he told them, according to people familiar with the situation. The posted pages contain charts, graphs and lists of Ford products and markets -- his road map to turn around the troubled auto maker. There are also photos of Ford executives in charge of various divisions, to show who is accountable. Pages are coded in red, yellow and green, indicating the severity of the problems. Red-coded charts show Ford's plunging U.S. market share, its North American financial forecast and its material-cost disadvantage.... | |

| | | Is This The 2009 Ford Mustang? | | Posted Wednesday, December 13, 2006 12:46:33 PM by Blog57 Team | | With the muscle car wars already beginning to heat up this summer, speculators have been doing there level best at speculating on what direction FoMoCo will be boldly moving towards for the 2009 model year of it's hard-charging pony car. Some claim it'll look similar to the Giugiaro Mustang from this year's LA show, with others claiming it'll get a shooting brake re-make. All the rumors do seem to suggest at the very least it'll receive a bit of a front face lift to tighten the skin over the sagging Sid Ramnarace and J Mays "retro-futurism" exterior in an attempt make it look more like the PYT it wants to be when compared with the new-to-the-block Camaro and Challenger. In addition to the collagen implant in front, there are mumblings of a retractable hardtop in the offing. Under the hood, there's rumors the GT version will be tweaked with output going up to...... | |

| | | 2005 Ford Mustang GT premium convertible from North America | | Posted Saturday, September 30, 2006 10:46:01 AM by Blog57 Team | | Not a comment, but a question - hopefully that's allowed on this forum. We're a UK couple travelling round California later this year and have reserved a Mustang Convertible as a hire car. Our slight concern is over the boot/stowage space, for two adults with moderately large backpacks and a small tent and considering the space lost to the roof. Can I ask if Mustang Convertible owners would advise us to continue with our hire, or if the thought of actually holidaying with this undoubtedly sexy car is just too impractical? Your advice is valued. Fix the spelling and grammar of this comment Request deletion of this comment 17th Sep 2006, 18:05 Anyone paying 32 grand for a Mustang GT got taken BIG TIME. As for resale value, the one (and ONLY) Japanese car I owned lost exactly HALF of what I paid for it the first year.... | |

| | | Groenewald pulls away in Supercars | | Posted Saturday, July 15, 2006 8:46:07 PM by Blog57 Team | | WesBank V8 Supercars powering their way through Potters Pass and Rifle Range at around 300 km/h will provide for an exciting spectacle, but there are high stakes on the line at the East London clash. A Kyalami double that took his season tally to six wins in 10 races, has seen Hennie Groenewald (Caltex Havoline Jaguar) open up an 18-point lead over reigning champion Grant van Schalkwyk (Hi-Q Jaguar) with Mackie Adlem (Fuchs Ford Mustang) and GT2 Class leader Terry Wilford (Fuchs Ford Mustang) sharing third place in the championship. Adlem holds the outright lap record at East London but it is Groenewald who is the form driver at the moment. Recent outings have seen both Adlem and van Schalkwyk suffer reliability problems, but both will know they cannot allow Groenewald to gain more ground in the championship battle.... | |
