QUESTION -- I have a problem that the Ford Motor Co. is either unable or unwilling to solve. The vehicle is a 2003 Ford F350 Super Duty extended cab, dually with a 6.0-litre Power Stroke diesel engine and five-speed automatic transmission. The truck is like new (only 32,000 original kilometres). I have hauled a 4,500 kilogram. fifth-wheel to southern Texas and back on two occasions without a problem. This fall we loaded a 3.2-metre slide-in camper (gross weight under 1,350 kilograms.) and set out for B.C. The fuel economy was considerably better than when pulling a 10-metre fifth-wheel and the truck handled the load beautifully. West of Swift Current, Sask., we noticed (for the first time) a "chook, chook, chook" noise -- like an old steam engine -- but it quickly cleared up and did not reoccur until we started to hit the high elevation passes in B.C....

We want to thank President George Bush, the US military, the US Embassy and the American people for the humanitarian assistance and we will never forget this day," Imelda Mabalot, principal of Pasobolong Elementary School, said. ....

Five men facing charges in connection with a home invasion and beating in early March in Grande Prairie reserved plea again in court Wednesday. Brian Hurley, one of two agents who appeared Wednesday on behalf of the five different defence lawyers handling the case, said more time is needed to wait for the results of the pre-trial. The pre-trial is used to discuss which issues will be tried, what evidence will be heard and other issues that will come up. It often is done between the Crown and defence, but sometimes the judge present as well. Crown prosecutor Morris Golden said one pre-trial took place Monday and the second will go ahead on Sept. 15. The incident took place March 12 when police say a group of men forced their way into a home on 107 Avenue....

GLOUCESTER -- Oskar stands still as a statue while the sharp scissors clip perilously close to areas no dog wants snipped. The 72-pound standard poodle issues not a bark, not a whimper. His sculpted helmet of black fur makes him look like those Buckingham Palace guards trained to remain stoic no matter how they are provoked. ``Good boy, Oskar," Julie Wilkins coos to him as she works. ``Good boy." Maybe Oskar knows that he is in good hands up there on the grooming table. Wilkins, 27 and a Gloucester native, is the International Groomer of the Year, named from a field of about 50 at the Intergroom 2006 trade show in New Jersey in April. Her apartment is dotted with trophies, ribbons, and snapshots marking her grooming-circuit wins, many in tandem with Emmy, her own ice-white poodle....
