| | | Special for Ferrari: Alcoa opens new aluminum plant in Modena | | Posted Thursday, November 02, 2006 12:48:33 PM by Blog57 Team | | Aluminum giant Alcoa has opened a new facility in Modena specifically to provide aluminum space frames and components to Ferrari. The two companies began collaborating in 1994, when Ferrari determined that the lightweight metal was the way to go to reduce weight and improve the dynamics of its road cars, and began producing the space frames for the 360 Modena in 1998. Today Alcoa is Ferrari's development and construction partner, with the aluminum conglomerate providing the frames for the F430, 612 Scaglietti and the new 599 GTB Fiorano. Until now, Alcoa produced the components at their own plants in Hungary, Germany and the Netherlands and sent them to the Ferrari factory in Italy where Alcoa personnel assembled them into full space frames at Scaglietti Works, Ferrari's body panel facility.... | |

The last race at Mosport was a success for Ferrari -- with a one-two finish, the first time that has happened in the ALMS. Team member Maurizio Mediani also made Ferrari history by taking the fastest average lap of the race. The result was a huge victory for both the Risi team and for Ferrari. It lifted the team to within two points of the class leader and gave Ferrari a similar boost in the manufacturer's competition. The Risi team F430 GT #61 is co-owned by Ferrari of Silicon Valley. "We are thrilled to support Risi in their quest for the title," stated Giacomo Mattioli, President of Ferrari of Silicon Valley; co-owner of Team Risi. | | | 2006 Ferrari F430 Spider | | Posted Sunday, August 27, 2006 4:45:53 AM by Blog57 Team | | Prancing horses descend on the Geneva motor show in the shape of the new Ferrari F430 Spider. Based on the fixed roof F430 coupe, the new Italian convertible receives a Pininfarina style all its own. Accented by smaller headlamps and large oval air ducts, the restyled front bumper gets a new lip spoiler for added downforce, and deeper side scoops help feed air to the midmounted engine. The rear is flanked by circular taillamps, and the aluminum body rides on new 10-spoke, 19-inch wheels with Pirelli PZero Rosso tires. As with the 360 Spider it replaces, going from coupe to convertible is simple — the fabric roof powers down electrically in 20 seconds. When the top is up, the rear window is set between tapering buttresses. Killer performance equal to the Spider's stunning beauty comes from the same powerful 4.3-liter V8 engine found in the F430, rated at 483 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque....

| | | German GP 27th - 30th July 2006 - Ferrari Sunday Press Release | | Posted Friday, August 04, 2006 8:45:58 AM by Blog57 Team | | "A dream result! The race was trouble free, the car was perfect, the drivers impeccable with Bridgestone tyres clearly superior to their competitors. The moment from this day I will keep in my mind is the podium ceremony, that featured my three favourite drivers. Tomorrow, we will come down to earth and think about the next race in Budapest. I have always maintained that as long as it was mathematically possible, we would continue to pursue our objectives. That's what we are doing and what we will continue to do. However, we really must keep our feet on the ground even more than usual. We have "only" had a one-two, even if that in itself is quite something! Finally on behalf of all at Ferrari I would like to pay a special tribute to Bridgestone on securing their one hundredth Formula 1 victory.... | |

(24-25 June 2006) But heading the list must have been the first public outing for the Ferrari FXX, the $2.8 million super car that has turned 29 owners into test drivers to help Ferrari develop its next super car. Exclusively for track use, the FXX owners will drive their cars on race tracks in Europe and America in coming months, collecting data for Ferrari as well as having what can only be described as a unique experience in the 800 bhp V12 super car. | | | In Tomorrow's Paper | | Posted Tuesday, July 11, 2006 2:45:54 AM by Blog57 Team | | As we tool around in our Toyotas, Fords and 1972 AMC Gremlins, who among us hasn't glared with quiet hatred at the guy behind the wheel of the midnight black Ferrari F430 who blows by with a silicone-enhanced starlet in the passenger seat? It's not that our cars aren't practical and capable modes of transportation (except maybe for the Gremlin, but at least you've got novelty on your side.) It's that the Ferrari is so cool, so exotic and so out of reach of our meagre budgets that few of us can ever hope to get our hands on one. Ditto for the starlet. Alienware has long been the Ferrari of PC makers, with cutting-edge rigs fitted with the absolute latest components. And that top-tier performance comes with a premium price that's not for the faint of wallet. But the Florida-based PC maker, now a subsidiary of Dell, let us spend a couple of months seeing how the other half lives by lending us an Aurora m7700, the first notebook PC powered by the Athlon 64 FX-60 2.6 GHz dual-core processor....
