LOS ANGELES -- It started with a crash and ended with a fizzle as Bo Stephan Eriksson, alleged driver of the infamous, red, smashed Enzo Ferrari, accepted a plea deal yesterday in a Los Angeles courtroom. Eriksson, 44, is expected to spend about a year in prison after pleading no contest to two counts of embezzlement related to his dealings with two exotic cars, and one count of possessing a gun illegally. His plea concludes a case that captivated public attention after images of the red Ferrari reduced to a severed wreck on Pacific Coast Highway showed up on newscasts last February. The court proceeding yesterday signaled a curtain falling on the colorful Eriksson drama: Not only have Eriksson's remaining two fantastically expensive exotic cars -- a black Ferrari Enzo and a McLaren Mercedes-Benz -- been shipped back to European banks, but prosecutors also said that Eriksson's Bel Air house would go into receivership....

LOS ANGELES Opening statements in the trial of a Swedish businessman who crashed an expensive Ferrari on a Malibu highway were postponed today because a prosecution witness from Great Britain had a serious accident. Bo Stefan Eriksson, 44, listened through a Swedish interpreter as the judge told jurors a witness from a British lending institution had been in a horrible accident and was unable to travel. The judge indicated the person had head injuries, adding prosecutors were waiting to see whether the witness would heal enough to travel or would be replaced. She told jurors to return tomorrow. Eriksson is a former executive of the now-bankrupt video game company Gizmondo Europe. Prosecutors contend he was drunk on February 21st when he plowed a red Enzo Ferrari into a utility pole in Malibu at 162 mph....

The Ferrari Enzo is one of the most exclusive, unique cars in the world, a supercar of consummate performance, ability and style. But for one Ferrari owner, the normal Enzo is not enough. So James Glickenhaus, an American car collector with a passion for the legendary racing cars of the 1960s commissioned Pininfarina to turn an Enzo into a unique car that has styling inspired by the Ferrari racing cars of from that decade, but which was also a useable road car. Thus the Ferrari P4/5 was born. The inspiration for the P4/5 and the source of the new cars name is the legendary 1967 Ferrari 330 P4, the last evolution of the Ferrari 257/330 P-series cars, which was Ferraris weapon in the battle against the Ford GT40. Intermediate versions of these cars, such as the P2/3, reveal how the P4/5 name was produced for the new car....

Driver rolls car during charity rally

During the last section of the rally, where drivers were allowed to open up their sports cars on a closed road and go as fast as they wanted, one driver rolled his car. Richard Losee was taken by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Medical Center where he was in non-life-threatening condition, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Doug McCleve. The Utah Fast Pass Rally began July 30. The four-day event was designed to take drivers and their "super cars" on some of Utah's most scenic roads through areas such as Deer Valley, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and Capitol Reef National Park, as well as treat drivers to several upscale meals. All the money raised in the event went to charity. The sports cars involved in the event included both old and new vehicles such as Ferraris and Porches....

Gettin' all Gadgety on the Glickenhaus Ferrari P4/5

Our techie brothers at Gizmodo took a look at James Glickenhaus's Pininfarina-designed, rebodied Ferrari Enzo, the P4/5. They turned an electric eye toward the bespoke model's gadgeted-up interior, which has a few more e-trinkets than does the donor Enzo, including vid-mo and iPod Nano. Anyone want to guess what Big Daddy has on his 'Pod? We're going with Wagner's "The Ride Of The Valkeries" or Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf Op. 67." Either that or early Chemical Brothers. Wreckage from Ferrari crash to be returned to England
Posted Monday, July 10, 2006 6:47:49 PM by Blog57 Team
LOS ANGELES A Swedish businessman who survived a spectacular Ferrari wreck in Southern California last winter isn't being allowed to keep the wreckage. Bo Eriksson emerged virtually unscathed after the one and-a-half (m) million-dollar, red Ferrari Enzo he was driving smacked into a utility pole at 162 miles-an-hour. Eriksson has pleaded not guilty to charges of grand theft, embezzlement and drunken driving and is set for trial at the end of the month. His lawyers claim he owns the wrecked supercar, along with a black Enzo and a Mercedes S-L-R. But prosecutors say he illegally imported all three from Great Britain. A judge has agreed, ordering the cars sent back to banks there, after authorities finish sweeping them for evidence. Eriksson worked for a bankrupt computer-game company called Gizmondo....
