2007 Dodge Ram SRT-10 'Wildly Powerful' Says NADAguides.com

COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 8 -- It's got an 8.3Liter, 500 horsepower V10 Viper Engine that cranks out 525Lb-Ft of torque. Is it a muscle car? A hot rod? Nope. It's a truck -- the 2007 Dodge Ram SRT-10 -- and according to Mark Perleberg, lead auto expert at NADAguides.com, it's a truck built with power and speed in mind. Perleberg recently test drove the SRT-10 and he weighs in on the truck's performance and styling. "The 2007 Dodge SRT-10 is wildly powerful," said Perleberg. "It's incredibly quick off the line but yet civilized too -- that is, when you're not mashing your right foot to the floor. This truck is fast, powerful, stylish and, believe it or not, practical." The Ram SRT-10, with its V10 Viper Engine linked to a six-speed manual transmission and Hurst shifter, registered a world-record top speed of over 154 MPH with a zero to sixty time in the low 5-second range....

Powerful Dodge Ram ready to take on competition

Truck drivers are not without vanity. Those in Texas want to believe that Dodge builds pickups just for them. So, the factory in Fenton, Mo., slapped a "Lone Star Edition" badge on some versions of the Ram 1500 to appeal to egos in the nation's top state for truck sales. Aside from the badge, Lone Star Edition features are available as options on other versions, including 20-inch aluminum wheels, fog lamps, sliding rear window and Sirius Satellite Radio. But the Lone Star package adds to the panoply of options dealers can offer. The stakes could hardly be higher this year, as Dodge braces for the onslaught of the San Antonio-built Tundra pickup arriving in 2007. The competition was stiff enough already with Ford's best-selling F-Series pickup and a completely revised Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra arriving in the 2007 model year....

Recalls anchor Rams to dealership lots

As if it weren't hard enough to sell a big 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 in a world where fuel efficiency is suddenly hip, dealers say recalls on some of the trucks mean they can't sell them even when there's a buyer. The passenger air bags on 144,000 of the pickups could deploy with excessive force when rear-facing child seats are installed in the front passenger seats. And the front passenger seat belts on 159,000 of the trucks might not tighten when used with some car seats. It's illegal for dealers to sell the affected trucks until they fix the problem, and dealers say they aren't getting the parts. Chrysler Group spokesman Max Gates said the company would overnight the parts to any dealer that notified the company of a sale or potential sale. But customer John Celini, 46, of Plymouth said dealers don't seem to know that....

2002 Dodge Ram - Alpha Dog

Steve Bucaro is one lucky guy -- on several levels. First off, he survived a horrific motorcycle accident that nearly ended his life and left him without the use of his legs, necessitating a radical life change. Attacking adversity head on, he used the buildup of his first project truck as therapy, as he put his life back in order in the aftermath of his brush with death. That project truck, a yellow last-generation Ram, attracted the attention of the marketing team at DaimlerChrysler, which saw fit to hand him the keys to a then-new '02 Ram in the fall of 2002, just in the nick of time for a buildup that landed him in the Mopar Speedshop booth at the 2002 SEMA Show. ....

US: Top Stolen Cars, Cities With Highest Thefts
Posted Wednesday, August 23, 2006 2:45:49 AM by Blog57 Team
NORWALK, Conn., Aug. 22, 2006 -- All car owners should be aware of the top stolen cars across the country and the metropolitan areas with the highest theft rates. "Just because you have an inexpensive car doesn't mean you're safe from car theft," said NASCAR legend and AutoVantage spokesman Bobby Hamilton. "Next to your home, your car is probably your largest investment -- be aware and protect it from theft." Each year, the National Insurance Crime Bureau (http://www.nicb.com/) conducts several studies identifying the most stolen cars and the areas of the country where the most cars are stolen. "Living in one of these areas or having one of these cars is not a reason to move or sell your vehicle," said Brad Eggleston, vice president of AutoVantage....

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) has released a 175-hp low-emissions Turbo Diesel engine rating specifically developed for Dodge Ram trucks used for underground mining applications. The Cummins- powered Dodge Ram is currently the only pickup truck produced in North America with an MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) approved engine for both coal and metal/non-metal mining. By offering a major reduction in emissions, the 5.9-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel will enable mine operators to reduce their annual expenditure on mine ventilation by $16,000 to $18,000 per year for each Dodge Ram vehicle in their fleet. ....

Torvec Picks Up Pace Toward Commercialization

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 27 -- Torvec, Inc. As promised in our last update, we have successfully installed our modular, infinitely variable transmission in our 2004, diesel-fueled Dodge Ram 4 x 4. In order to implement our school bus program, we have begun testing designed to compare the fuel efficiencies and pollution reduction capabilities of our IVT versus the fuel consumption and pollution generated by New York's and the nation's school buses, the majority of which use the same or comparable diesel-fueled engine as our Dodge Ram. The comparisons are being made based upon actual school bus routes furnished to us by local school districts that are actively cooperating with us on the project. We also installed our modular IVT in our diesel-fueled Dodge Ram because most of the automotive markets for our products worldwide today use, and are committed to, diesel-fueled engines....

2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab Review
Posted Sunday, July 09, 2006 12:45:55 PM by Blog57 Team
Although it features a brand new frame, new suspension and new body mounts, the Mega Cab is immediately recognizable as a Dodge Ram. The starting point for the Mega Cab is the Ram 2500 long box. The body has been lengthened by 20" and the pickup box shortened by 20?. Those twenty inches of space have been filled with two full-size doors with full size rear seats and folding seatbacks. When you see the Quad Cab and the Mega Cab side-by-side, you?ll notice a considerable difference in the size of the cabs particularly from the B-pillar aft. The Mega Cab?s rear doors are 10 inches longer than the Quad's. From a front view the easiest way to tell '06 models from the '05 is by checking out the Ram insignia. On the '05, it?s mounted on the hood; while on the '06 it?s been moved south and now resides mid-grill....

Hit-and-run crash interrupts power

More than 2,600 homes and businesses were without power Wednesday afternoon after a Healdsburg man smashed his 1982 Dodge Ram Charger into a power pole and then a tree before trying to run away, the CHP said. Adam Ryan Lara, 19, was captured shortly after the crash and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. Lara was driving south on Old Redwood Highway at 50 mph in a 35-mph zone around 4:15 p.m. when he crashed after losing control, CHP spokeswoman Barbara Upham said. After the impact, which severed the power pole in the Larkfield area north of Santa Rosa, Lara took off running north on Old Redwood Highway, Upham said. He was chased and detained by citizens and an off-duty Santa Rosa police officer before sheriff's deputies arrived, Upham said....
