| High Caliber | | Posted Tuesday, November 07, 2006 10:46:14 PM by Blog57 Team | | The second Lebanon war has delayed the comeback of Dodge - and not only in Israel, it transpires. Dodge's Lebanese importer has also been forced to postpone his launch as a result of this summer's hostilities. "The Lebanese importer, a wealthy Christian whom I met at an event overseas, called me up in the middle of the war to vent his frustrations," recalls Zvi Neta, general manager of the Automotive Equipment Group, Dodge's Israeli importer. .... | |

| | | Dealers: Dodge Avenger coming in Feb. | | Posted Sunday, October 15, 2006 2:46:01 PM by Blog57 Team | | DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group will launch production of the Dodge Avenger in January, with the midsize sedan due to arrive in dealerships in February, several Dodge dealers said Tuesday. The Avenger will replace the Stratus in Dodge's lineup and comes as Chrysler is moving to add more cars to its truck-heavy lineup. Chrysler declined to confirm the production plan for the Avenger, which was introduced as a concept vehicle at the Paris auto show last month. The automaker has previously said it will build a new sedan to replace the aging Stratus and that the car would enter the market early next year. "We haven't announced any plans to build a Dodge Avenger," Chrysler spokesman Dave Elshoff said Tuesday. Dealers say the Avenger should revive Dodge's presence in the tough midsize sedan segment and bolster sales.... | |

The all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber SRT4s formula begins with the powertrain, essentially explained by four numbers: 85, 125, 300 and 260. The 85 is how much more horsepower is available compared with the original Dodge SRT4, which results in 125 horsepower per liter for a total of 300 horsepower (224 kW). The final number is 260, as in 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm) of tire-smoking, push-back-in-your-seat torque. Those numbers add up to a 0-60-mph time of under 6 seconds. With signature SRT all-around performance, the all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber SRT4 is a true tuner car right from the manufacturer, said Kipp Owen, Director Street and Racing .... | |

| | | 2007 Dodge Avenger Teaser! | | Posted Monday, August 21, 2006 2:46:05 PM by Blog57 Team | | Are these the official 2007 Dodge Avenger easer pictures? I hope so! By the looks of this it seems quite pleasingly toned down compared to its ugly horrific gut-wrenching twin car the Sebring!I seem to like it! What do you think? I'm sure this will look like more of a four door caliber type... considering that the Avenger concept was the Caliber!I personally don't get what the Idea of having this Avenger is! I mean Dodge already has the Charger and the Caliber! Is the Caliber now going to be considered as a "Sport Wagon"?It looks good though! I just feel Daimler is wasting money! I think they should have dropped the Sebring a long time ago or they should have just specifically made it for fleet, because I'm sure nobody is going to actually BUY the new 2007 Sebring! .... | |

| | | Dodge Caliber sales hurt by production glitches | | Posted Monday, July 31, 2006 4:46:11 AM by Blog57 Team | | Chrysler Group's high-tech Belvidere, Illinois assembly plant is having trouble getting its robots to behave, and that's holding back sales of its popular Caliber model. Turns out that the welding and assembly robots are, well, running into each other, bringing the assembly line to a halt while the Swedish-built robots are straightened out.As a result, Belvidere production is about 25 percent below its target, and dealers are building up ever-growing waiting lists for the hot-selling Caliber. With the new Jeep Compass recently added to the mix at the flexible manufacturing facility, and the Jeep Patriot waiting in the wings, Chrysler had better get the robots to behave sooner than later. This isn't a trivial problem - each ABB robot is about 15 feet tall (a typical unit is shown at right), and the Belvidere robotic body shop has more than 700 robots.... | |

| | | Some older models are suddenly hot sellers | | Posted Saturday, July 29, 2006 2:45:49 PM by Blog57 Team | | An analysis of new car and truck sales at the halfway point in the model year confirms some now long-familiar trends -- but also reveals some surprising developments. The rush to smaller cars -- fueled in part by high gasoline prices -- is not only moving new compacts off the sales floor, but also more familiar cars that have been around a while. The Chrysler PT Cruiser had a 7 percent sales increase during the first six months of 2006 compared with 2005, according to J.D. Powers and Associates sales reports. Sales of the retro-styled car jumped 25 percent in June over the same month last year. At General Motors, Saturn Ion sales jumped 16.5 percent from 10,043 in June 2005 to 11,704 last month. Sales of the Ion were up 3.5 percent for the six-month period when compared with 2005.... | |

| | | Test Drive: Dodge Caliber: fun features, unusual look | | Posted Saturday, July 08, 2006 4:45:56 AM by Blog57 Team | | I'm in an ugly mood. No, it's not that my usual ill-humored personality has grown worse. It's just that I've been seeing a lot of ugly cars lately. In March, I wrote that the Chevy Malibu Maxx was ugly. Two weeks later, I described the new Nissan Versa subcompact as looking rather odd. Then, in May, I wrote that the Toyota Echo was ugly, and that the new Yaris, which has replaced it as the entry-level vehicle in Toyota showrooms, was plain, uninspired and yawn-generating. But this week, when my wife called the new Dodge Caliber in our driveway ugly, I took exception. I mean, that's my job, not hers. And, in fact, I don't think the Caliber is ugly or homely, misshapen or repelling -- all synonyms I found on thesaurus.com. Let's just say it's, uh, unusual.... | |
