Sherman, of Mobile, was traveling east on Government at 4:40 p.m. when he apparently tried to change lanes and crossed paths with a Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicle, police spokesman Officer John Young said. The Tahoe, also traveling east, was driven by 29-year-old Barbara Day of Bay Minette, said Officer Eric Gallichant, another police spokesman. Sherman, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was taken to the University of South Alabama Medical Center, where he later died, Young said.
