| 2000 Chevrolet Silverado LS from North America | | Posted Sunday, November 05, 2006 2:45:52 PM by Blog57 Team | | To start off with 2000 silverado will NOT get 24 mpg, 17 -19 mpg max. I take very good care of my truck and drive like I'm out on a Sunday drive For the problem with throttle sticking. Very simply pull your black plastic cover and look at the carbon build up around the flapper in throat, simply use some good thoottle and intake cleaner and clean it good being sure you clean the topside also. Next problem with start up knocking, can't get rid of it, but usins a mobil 1 oil filter and (down south) use a thicker synthetic oil has helped. Next, steering shaft knock on small bumps (feels like shocks or suspension problem) gm tells dealers to pull shaft and lube, only problem is during hot summers the grease runs out and problem returns, request that the shaft be replaced.Next, while idle for a period of less than 5 min or so,low fuel light comes on and indicator goes to empty.... | |

| | | Foreign cars pass Big 3 | | Posted Thursday, July 27, 2006 10:45:50 AM by Blog57 Team | | For the first time, U.S. consumers are buying more cars and trucks built by foreign automakers than vehicles made by Detroit's traditional Big Three. | | | Only two U.S. automakers make this year's top 10 list | | Posted Tuesday, July 04, 2006 6:46:05 PM by Blog57 Team | | As if you needed a reminder that America's auto brands have badly lagged their Asian and European rivals in quality throughout the years, only two of the top 10 carmakers, as ranked by J.D. Power & Associates in its annual report card, were American this year. Both GMC and Cadillac made the top 10, but they were beat out by the likes of Honda, Toyota, Lexus and Hyundai. The big surprise was Porsche, the German sports carmaker, which came from 32nd place to knock Lexus out of the top spot it had held since 2001. This year's J.D. Power rankings, which measure the quality of new cars, took into account for the first time "design defects," not just manufacturing glitches and other technical problems. The reason, according to the company: Today's cars come with so much technological gadgetry that just operating them properly can aggravate some drivers.... | |
