BMW 5 series set to woo Indian buyer
Posted Tuesday, October 31, 2006 2:46:46 PM by Blog57 Team
The 5 series is a car line that sits between the 3 and 7 series for BMW. And that means that this car has to take on the Mercedes E class and also Audi A6, but it must also live up to the BMW name. The design screams contemporary BMW. In fact compared to the older 5 series, the new car attracted a lot of criticism. But the look works! The list of goodies available as standard or as optional extras is longer than ever before. There's ABS braking, traction control and stability control. Then there's optional Active Steering Control, which gives sharper handling and active suspension, which is quite impressive indeed. There are many engine options in the 5 series. There's the diesel 520d, then two petrols, 523 and 525i, the second diesel 525d and the 530i petrol comes next....

Spyshots of the new Chevrolet Caprice and Lumina
Posted Friday, September 15, 2006 10:46:14 AM by Blog57 Team
So this is my first post, and hopefully not my last. I was cruising in Dubai when I spotted a large car that looked somthing between a Audi A6 and the Bmw 7 series. What was it?All I managed to read was "CAPRICE" just embossed behind some black tape. The photos are taken with a primitive phone camera so please bear with the quality. They have opted for the new LED brake lights and slightly more of some European styling. Just then I saw the new Lumina drive by in the same black shield and just managed to capture one photo. The Chevrolet Caprice has chrome trim at the back and the Lumina has no chrome trim on the rear bumper. The main picture is of the new Lumina and the three below are the Caprice spy shots. Enjoy guys!Gaurang... ....

2005 Audi A6 Four Seasons Test
Posted Sunday, September 10, 2006 12:46:16 AM by Blog57 Team
A little more than a year ago, an oyster gray metallic Audi A6 nosed its way into our Four Seasons fleet. And we don't use the word nose loosely, because the first thing we noticed about the A6 was its front end and the gaping maw of its grille. We've applauded every successive chapter of Audi's mellifluous design language, exemplified by vehicles such as the iconic TT and the ultraluxurious A8, but this new corporate grille, which first appeared in the 2005 model year, seemed incongruous--a little bit too large and a little bit too showy for an automaker renowned for the well-proportioned, tasteful styling of its vehicles. ....

2006 Audi A6 4.2 Road Test

A magnificent stereo serenading your ears with your most loved music collection. The sunroof open overhead with the night sky beaming down upon you. Active xenon headlights directing crisp illumination into each corner. Your right hand calling up gears in a six speed automatic transmission that knows what its doing. And the ride: soft and calm but yet somehow connected and communicative at the same time. How could it get any better than this?Check off the "4.2" option on your Audi A6 order sheet, and you'll see for yourself with a 335-horsepower, 5-valve-per-cylinder V8 engine. The styling is a step forward, not that the A6 needed a whole lot of improving. The application of the new family fascia treatment, squared-off taillights and less bubbly-looking body really make the new model stand out....

Lexus Success

Up Front. Early in the Japanese luxury brand's life, Lexus lifted a line from Macbeth to describe a forthcoming car, warning lyrically "something wicked this way comes." Like most automotive advertising, the pitch somewhat overstated the case. "Something?" Clearly. "This way comes?" Undoubtedly. "Wicked"? Not exactly. Toyota's (NYSE:TM - News) luxury division has been happy to reap huge gains from its impeccably reliable but anonymously styled cars at relatively lower price points. What's been missing? Daring, superlative flights of fancy that make German rivals -- like Shakespeare's brewing witches -- epic. The company's core strategy is changing quickly, though. Toyota senses potential challenges from increasingly aggressive Korean competitors that have no problem producing cheap and boring....

Audi A6 Le Mans Edition commemorates milestone TDi race win
Posted Monday, July 24, 2006 12:45:44 AM by Blog57 Team
The spoils of a milestone victory for Audi TDI power in the 2006 Le Mans 24-hour marathon race can now be enjoyed in the new limited edition A6 Le Mans Edition, a commemorative version of the potent A6 3.0 TDI quattro boasting a unique and especially lavish specification for a price premium of just £115. Restricted to just 1,000 right-hand-drive examples, the new A6 3.0 TDI quattro Le Mans Edition is now available in Saloon and Avant forms priced at £34,575 OTR and £35,845 OTR respectively. To mark the moment when Le Mans was conquered by diesel power for the first time in its 74-year history in the Audi R10 TDI sports prototype, this new special edition model has appropriately been based on the sporting S line version of the A6 3.0 TDI quattro. The already striking S line specification, which includes exclusive S line front and rear body styling, is further enhanced externally in the A6 Le Mans Edition by 19-inch 7-arm double spoke alloy wheels adopted from the RS 4 quattro and standard metallic or pearl effect paint....

Audi A6 Headlight Switch Recalled Again
Posted Saturday, July 01, 2006 4:45:59 AM by Blog57 Team
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is recalling four types of the Audi A6 from the 1998 to the 2000 model years because a previous recall to fix the head light switch may have been improperly performed. NHTSA is concerned that the improper installation could lead to an electrical short and fire under the dashboard on the driver's side of the car. On some Audi A6, A6 Avant, S6 and S6 Avant cars, while attempting the remedial repair for recall 0413000 a plastic cover may not have been securely installed by the Audi technician. If the cover is not properly installed to the driver's side support crossmember, the headlight switch wiring harness could contact the crossmember and cause an electrical short. Audi has not provided a remedy or an owner notification schedule but owners may contact the manufacturer at 1-800-822-2834 or call NHTSA 1-888-327-4236....

A 24-year-old UMass-Lowell senior that may be depressed has been missing for a week now and police in his hometown of Norton are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to help locate him. Cellular telephone records have led police in Norton to believe Andrew Eckstrom has traveled through Pennsylvania, Chicago, and Wisconsin since he vanished without a word to family or friends on June 19, police said. Eckstrom lives in north and was last seen leaving his job at VH Blackington in North Attleboro about 4:15 p.m., on June 19, police said. He is a senior heading into his last semester as a graphic design major at UMass-Lowell. Eckstrom has not contacted his family or his friends since he vanished, which is unusual.
